New CEO expects to continue extraordinary growth bringing more than 25 years experience in the software industry leading fast growth companies
Boxborough, MA. March 30, 2011 Digital Reef Inc.
, the leading supplier of massively scalable SaaS based discovery and file governance services announced that it has recruited Chris Risley to become its President and CEO. Bob Lentz, Digital Reef’s Interim CEO, said “We are very pleased to have Chris join Digital Reef. We were looking for a permanent CEO with IPO experience and with a history of running fast growing companies. Chris has led seven venture-backed companies resulting in an IPO and three sales to public companies. We know that Chris is the right person to lead Digital Reef through its rapid growth phase.”
Risley said “I’m delighted to be joining the team at Digital Reef. Our founder and CTO, Steve Akers has been CTO twice before. The first company, Shiva, makers of massively scalable remote access servers went public and reached a market capitalization of over $3 billion. At the next company, SpringTide, Steve designed a carrier scale advanced IP switching service. SpringTide sold to Lucent for more than $1.3 billion. At Digital Reef Steve has developed some very deep grid-based technology for indexing and discovering the syntactical relationship between documents in unstructured data. Under Bob the company found markets for that deep technology and we now have an opportunity to accelerate the company’s growth with a strong push into the markets we’ve developed. We need to focus now, but frankly we’ve only just begun to tap the markets where we can apply Steve’s technology for discovering the structure and relationships within unstructured data.”

His investors have included Accel Partners, Bessemer Venture Partners, Charles River Ventures, Deutsche Telekom, Highland Capital, In-Q-Tel, Juniper Networks, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Sequoia Capital, Sumitomo, Verisign and others.
