Digital Reef Expands Legal Service Provider Partnership Program

Private branded Secure eDiscovery Center now allows LSPs to outsource ECA on large jobs and still enjoy profitable revenue-sharing

BOXBOROUGH, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Digital Reef, leading Software as a Service (SaaS) Early Case Assessment (ECA) and eDiscovery provider, offering the fastest and smartest path to legal review, announced that it is expanding its Legal Service Provider partnership program to allow small and mid-sized Legal Service Providers to provide multi-hundred gigabyte and multi-terabyte Early Case Assessment, Processing, Analysis and Review hosting projects to their clients on a revenue share basis.

“The credit for success to date belongs to our founder and CTO, Steve Akers, who has an uncanny knack of applying computer science insights to large thorny problems”

Legal Service Providers will be able to send overflow projects and projects too large for their own processing to Digital Reef’s secure data center and still earn a good margin on the project. “Some Legal Service Providers do forensic collections or other parts of the process and don’t get a chance to enjoy income from the ECA and processing phase of eDiscovery. Our expanded partnership program lets them better serve their clients, keep control of the account, and expand their income,” says Chris Risley, CEO of Digital Reef. “Other Legal Service Providers handle many small cases each week. When a large job comes in they have been faced with a difficult choice: Do it ourselves and jam up the shop so that we’re late with our smaller jobs, or refer the large job to a larger legal service provider who may try to take the account. Our expanded partnership program allows these LSPs to keep the account, send the work to Digital Reef’s 200+ core SAS-70 Type II/SSAE-16 type I secure data center, and get the data back to the client fast, and still enjoy a good margin on the large project.”

Digital Reef’s Secure eDiscovery Center is the only ECA/eDiscovery solution which is able to process more than 17TB of data per day, thereby reducing processing times for large legal cases from weeks to hours. The Digital Reef Early Case Assessment data analytics helps attorneys discover key concepts and critical documents, while the product’s email analysis shows who knew what, and when. Digital Reef is the fastest and smartest path to legal review enabling legal service providers and law firms to save clients tens of thousands of dollars in a typical case.

Digital Reef’s partnership program allows Legal Service Providers to private brand the eDiscovery Center so that any LSP can take on the largest projects for their clients.

“Digital Reef has been refining the LSP partnership program for the past year. It’s been the core of Digital Reef’s strategy since Chris Risley joined as CEO a year ago. The Company has begun to win very large projects in partnership with LSPs and it’s now at the point where it can truly focus on expanding the partnership channel,” said Antonio Rodriguez, General Partner at Matrix Ventures, which along with Pilot House Ventures is funding Digital Reef’s expansion. “The company is organizing every department to support this expanded partnership model.”

“The credit for success to date belongs to our founder and CTO, Steve Akers, who has an uncanny knack of applying computer science insights to large thorny problems,” said Chris Risley, CEO of Digital Reef. “There are more than 1 million attorneys in the US, who collectively billed more than $200 Billion in the last 12 months. These charges included eDiscovery costs which often cost larger corporations $600,000 to $2.3 Million or more per case. Just as he did in the telecoms market, Steve noticed how an advanced technology could change the way a very mature industry did business. And as a result, we are now proud of our Legal Service Provider partners, their AMLAW 200 and Fortune 500 clients for whom we have processed some of the largest, and highest profile cases in the last year.”

“This has been a great year for Digital Reef,” said Stephen Van Beaver, general partner at Pilot House Ventures. "We retained Chris Risley as CEO back in the Feb 2011 to create the infrastructure to manage the Company’s growth and we are delighted to provide him and the expanded team with the capital to execute their vision.”
