How do electronic conveniences affect privacy? This question was a highlight of discussion on July 19 at the Masters Series for Legal Professionals Conference.

The conference was held at the Downtown Association in New York City. The event was designed as a discussion forum for legal professionals.  A series of sessions were held throughout the afternoon and topics centered around eDiscovery-related issues.

Steve Akers, Founder and CTO of Digital Reef, moderated a panel on embedded devices. Panel members were Daniel Garrie, Special Master in eDiscovery, and Daniel Gelb, Gelb & Gelb LLP.

Both Steve Akers and members of the panel had many interesting points they discussed with the audience. Some of these included; the correlation between electronic devices and cloud viewing devices, who has data from electronic devices and when is the data discoverable, private messages versus public messages, and issues related to data storage.
